Deborra Garrett Elected to Whatcom County Superior Court

November 16th, 2012 - Carmichael Clark

The people of Whatcom County elected Deborra Garrett to serve as a judge in Whatcom County Superior Court. It was a very close race and Deborra and her campaign worked very hard.

I am not surprised by Deborra’s victory. When I first joined the firm in 2006 as an “out of towner” I was pleased to learn that Deborra was a partner with legendary status in the community. Over the years I’ve come to understand what makes Deborra a legend. She has contributed countless hours to our community through various organizations. She’s bright and successful. I’ve observed her hard work, commitment and passionate representation of her clients. She has an uncanny ability to listen and provide reasoned, measured advice. She keeps her cool and remains professional even in unsettling circumstances where some would have difficulty. Finally, Deborra is also very approachable and I think it’s because she is honest, kind and non-judgmental. I feel lucky to have someone like her serve as judge in our community.

Carmichael Clark wishes Deborra the best of luck in her new position with Whatcom County Superior Court. There will be a swearing in ceremony for Deborra on January 11, 2013 in the Whatcom County Council Chambers at 3:00 p.m. with a reception in the rotunda immediately following the ceremony. Carmichael Clark will miss Deborra but we are all happy that she’s on the bench and cannot wait to have a case in front of her. The firm is making arrangements so that the legal needs of our clients will continue to be met.
